Benefit Porefessional Primer Review

Benefit Porefessional Primer Review

I love it when magazines give out little product freebies.
I soon snapped this Benefit primer up as I've heard/read so many good reviews on it.

As you can see it's slightly tinted and feels very silky between the fingers.
It goes onto the skin well and acts as a nice base for my foundation.
However after a couple days of using this product I broke out.
Not the usual break out but more like full on acne on the areas where I had applied the primer.
I stopped using it straight away but it took forever for my skin to recover :(.

I was quite shocked because I have never ever broken out when using a product before so I did not expect it to happen to me. But I did learn a good lesson in that you should always try out samples first before buying anything expensive, since you cannot return makeup here in the UK. I was considering buying the full size of this, thank goodness I never!

Do you guys recommend any primers?

  1. Wow, how awful! Sorry that happened to you :/
Good thing you didn't buy it!
Well, my skin is pretty oily and acne prone (I had a hormonal disorder for the longest time) so I really have to watch what I use.. However, I've been using Catrice's Prime and fine for about a year and I've been very satisfied with it. It's very silky and it's really a perfect primer under a foundation, makes your make up look great! It's not tinted though..
I'm not sure if you have Catrice make up in the UK, I think it's a German brand.. It's really good though, so you should look into it!

  2. I've been using the MAC Prep and Prime recently which has been SO good, if pricey... The other Benefit primer (That Gal) was good for me too, but if that one broke you out, this might as well...

  3. That's such a shame that you broke out like that! I love PoreFessional, as it's a balm to minimise large pores it really works for me as I have large pores but I don't
I've to use foundation as my skin is very oily. It works perfectly for me as it hides my massive pores and covers redness on my T zone.
I found 'That Gal' to be quite good too, but like Olivia said, if this made you break out then That Gal might too!

    1. I thought that Porefessional was really good to begin with since it did minimise the pores on my cheeks really well, such a shame it never worked out! I think the Benefit MUA put That Gal on me once and I seemed to be OK, might have to try it again! :) x

  4. This broke me out too! I'm still a bit spotty and it's been about a week and a half since I stopped using it. At first I thought it was the stress of moving house combined with that time of the month and having a cold but spots kept appearing after all that was over. I'm an idiot and bought 4 copies of the magazine so I have 3 extra tubes to get rid of now!
I honestly thought it was going to be some sort of miracle product! x

    1. Oh no! So sorry to hear you broke out too. You'll have to put them all on Ebay together, I'm sure someone will buy it :) x
