Invisalign Consultation and Quotation

Hey all.
So I went for my consultation about 2 weeks ago.
It cost me £110 but that is deducted if you decide to go ahead with treatment.
Pictures and X-rays were taken as well as an examination of my teeth.
A few days later I got my quotation through the post.
The overall treatment cost is £2950.
£1650 - £110 (consultation) = £1540 is paid upfront.
When the treatment begins £100 is paid every month until the £2950 total has been reached.
So ofc I've decided to go ahead with Invisalign.
Today I had the molds taken of my teeth.
These will be sent off to Invisalign in America.
It takes around 6 weeks for the aligners to come back to the UK.
My treatment will last between 12-14 months and I am having aligners for both top and bottom teeth.
I've booked my next appointment for the 31st May.
I'm pretty excited!
:D

Teeth Whitening

Everybody wants gorgeous white gnashers,
hell I do!

But I've just read an article in the Daily Mail about home whitening kits.
Here's what the article had to say:

Blanx Intensive Whitening Treatment £10.99
Claim: 'Its a unique formula, based on Arctic lichen, is safe to use without being aggressive on the enamel.'
Verdict: 'This contains smooth glass particles that act like a polish, rather than an abrasive. But if it's polishing off a thin layer of surface over years, there's a risk of worn enamel' - Professor Andrew Edner

2/10

Dang I've bought Blanx in the past and definitely won't be buying it again.
Also I didn't see much of a difference when I did use it.

Rapid White Blue Light £30.63
Claim: 'Whitens teeth up to five shades lighter with two hours blue light.'
Verfict: 'This product contains citric acid that softens the enamel, so if you brush your teeth directly after using this, you're effectively spitting your teeth down the sink.' Dr Stemmer

3/10

Sounds horrendous!

CREST 3D Whitestrips Five Minute Touch-Ups £19.95
Claim: 'Crest Whitestrips provide you with a beautiful, whiter smile - guaranteed.' Contains 5.3% hydrogen peroxide.
Verdict: 'These are not permitted in the UK, though they can be bought from European websites. They are effective, but they need to be supervised by a dentist.' Dr Greenwall

5/10

Never knew these bad boys were not permitted in the UK.
After hearing all the raves from the Americans I thought I would give them a go.
I bought a pack of these off the internet several months ago and they do work.

Rembrandt 2-Hour Whitening Kit, £12.17 (drugstore.com)
Claim: 'Visibly whiter teeth in two hours'
Verdict: 'This will whiten your teeth.' -Dr Greenwall
The kit contains a tray which is placed over the teeth and bleach is added.

6/10

This treatment seemed to be rated quite well.
And for only £12.17 its a bit of a bargain.

(All information was from the Daily Mail.)

Have you guys used any whitening treatments?

Braces and Invisalign

My teeth were wonky when I was a child because I use to suck my finger and therefore it pushed my two front teeth outwards. I had a brace when I was 13-16, it wasn't a train track but sort of like a retainer brace.
Pretty Naff really. At that age I wasn't really arsed about how I looked. Also my orthodontist didn't stress about the importance of wearing your retainer. Since your teeth constantly move throughout your life.
So there was little me not really fused and so thought that my treatment was up and my teeth would stay straight forever. Oh Noes. They have become stupidly wonky again. So all that time and effort was for nothing. I am obsessed with teeth, every time I look at someone I will notice their teeth straight away.
Now, I think its so important to have a nice smile. Your teeth are constantly on show, talking, smiling etc. So therefore I have decided to get Invisalign. I'm 20 years old, I don't want another metal mouth for another 1-2 years of my life. You don't even notice when someone has Invisalign, it just looks like their normal teeth. Obviously because I'm older this time I will have to pay for my treatment. I've been quoted £3000.
I have no confidence, I'm so aware that my teeth are overlapping and wonky. And it really makes me unhappy. The sooner I start the treatment the better.
I can't wait to come out of this, hopefully with a new smile.
I've also been thinking of getting whitening when my treatment is complete,
but thats a long while off yet. (hahha me getting ahead of myself.)
For some people its about having big boobs or no wrinkles etc,
for me its all about the teef!
